Breathe stronger, recover faster. The NEMO Incentive Spirometer is a clinically recommended respiratory training device designed to help patients improve lung function, prevent pulmonary complications, and support recovery after surgery or injury. With three colour-coded balls as visual targets, it turns breathing exercises into a motivating, measurable routine.

How to Use

  1. Sit upright on the edge of your bed or as upright as possible.
  2. Hold the spirometer in an upright position.
  3. Seal your lips tightly around the mouthpiece.
  4. Inhale slowly and as deeply as possible — watch the balls rise as a guide.
  5. Hold your breath for at least 5 seconds, then exhale slowly.
  6. Rest briefly and repeat 10 times every hour.
  7. Set the indicator to your best effort as a goal for each session.
  8. After every 10 breaths, cough gently to clear your lungs.
  9. Continue until advised to stop by your healthcare provider.

Understanding Spirometry

A spirometer measures the volume of air you inhale and exhale, helping identify obstructive and restrictive ventilation patterns. Regular use of an incentive spirometer strengthens the respiratory muscles and keeps the lungs fully expanded during recovery.
